However, a small entry-level SUV was missing to complete the Ford SUV family. Ford remedied the situation last November by unveiling the all-new 2018 Ford Ecosport.
The 2018 Ford Ecosport: A New Efficient and Affordable SUV
The all-new 2018 Ford Ecosport is Ford's response to the new urban SUV models that have come on the market in recent months. Unveiled at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, the 2018 Ford Ecosport is already offered in Europe, where it has received great reviews and has been selling very well. In terms of dimensions, the new EcoSport will be more compact than the Ford Escape while providing useful cargo capacity.
It will be powered by a 1.0-liter four-cylinder engine whose power has not yet been confirmed yet or a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that will be matched exclusively with all-wheel drive. A six-speed automatic transmission will be called upon to send the power to the wheels.
Towing capacity will be 1,400 pounds for the entry-level engine and 2,000 pounds for the 2.0-liter engine. These specs remain to be confirmed, but if they prove to be true, the Ford EcoSport will be among the SUVs offering the best towing capacity of its segment.
Inside, the 2018 Ford Ecosport will feature a modern cabin offering cutting-edge technologies such as the Sync3 infotainment system, and the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity features.
